Personally, my favorite Damien Chazelle film is "Babylon". I found this film so rich and fascinating, almost hypnotic. The cast is insane, Brad Pitt is excellent - as always - Margot Robbie is phenomenal and Diego Calva really blew me away! The visuals are incredible, the direction and cinematography are fantastic. And most importantly, the music is memorable. Justin Hurwitz is a brilliant composer and I find "Babylon" to be perhaps his best score.

Babylon is his BEST work to date. A real masterpiece.

Babylon is my all time favorite movie. The people making it clearly respect and have a passion for their craft, and Hollywood and it's roots. The movie is brilliant and I hope the creators and actors and other overlooked contributing members get their due credit soon. The bad reviews have me questioning how the people of society may not have actual taste, or emotional intelligence. I do believe we will see the reviews hike up in the future and a reemergence of interest will exceed it's original capture of an audience. Gratitude for these artists giving gratitude to the art and artists before them. Splendid -no less, probably more... more than splendid, that is. <3 P.S. The soundtrack is marvelous and o-so-danceable

This is a difficult one because my favorite is not the one I think is his best.

5. Guy and Madeline
4. First Man
3. Babylon
2. Whiplash
1. La La Land

I think whiplash is an objectively better film but my first time seeing La La Land in a theater as a teenager was one of the most magical theater experiences of my life. I will never forget how I felt sitting in that theater.

I did not like him as a director before, but I saw Babylon twice in the last two days and SOBBED both times. Best movie of his, and best movie of the year

I think people forget that the frantic and hecticness of the film underscores the chaotic beginnings of Hollywood (and life. There is no linear timeline with stories begun and unfinished, as well as finished with unknown beginnings.

It portrays the process of life and the realness of finality. With the characters all coming to terms with their mortality and final resolutions of their stories.

Of the ones I've seen:
3. La La Land(I couldn't get into this one. I don't care about the characters or the songs, although it looks great)
2. First Man(Great performances, even if it goes a bit long)
1. Whiplash(This is an absolute masterpiece with amazing performances and a fascinating story. JK Simmons knocks it out of the park and the hilarious and frightening Fletcher)

All these 4 films are Amazing imo. Here is my top :
5) Guy and Madeline on a Park Bench (his first film that a lot of people tend to forget)
4) First Man (Amazing Story, the last half hour was absolutely stunning).
3) La La Land (Amazing movie, but it wasn't the one who touched me the most, like the ending never made me cry, even though the movie is truly beautiful)
2) Whiplash (Just perfect. As a musician, this movie both terrified me and kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time. Fantastic final also !)
1) Babylon (Now, I know this movie divides and I can see why, but I absolutely loved this movie. It:s the only one I've seen in theaters beside La La Land and wow... Did not expect to fell in love with the movie... Performances were great, I loved the chaotic aspect of the movie, and that score...Damn what a score !) Amazing movie

I highly recommend Guy and Madeline on a Park Bench! The actors are not professional actors. The main guy is a real trumpet player. This is a real indie film. Damien Chazelle doesn’t use ADR. His signature style of moving the camera back and forth is in here. This definitely feels like what he was trying to do with LaLa Land.
