The Joel voice is definitely similar to the Mando voice. Both have a bit of discomfort to them, Joel is older and has bad knees and is lives a life of painful survival. Mando is uncomfortably armoured, always on the move, has a job that keeps him constantly on edge. They both have that roughness to them but are slightly different. Hard to hear Joel talk and not hear Mando

Y’all, to be fair to his “Texan” accent. Dude was from Austin. And as a native Texan I can attest that the closer you get to the higher populated urban cities, the more you lose that southern accent. And to be even more frank, what people consider a “Texan” accent isn’t even a common accent that Texans have. It exists much more heavily in other southern states, but Texan accents don’t get much more southern than colloquial speech. We don’t really have accents so it’s not really unrealistic

Following Troys work as Joel was filling big shoes. Pedro has done a wonderful job. The moment I heard him in the trailer i was just like, “yup, that’s Joel.”

IMHO, Joel's accent in the show is very accurate, a Mexican-American living between Austin and San Antonio. Pedro Pascal nailed it!

Oh my god! Just hearing him talk i know hes anothet henry cavill. He has imense respect for the source material and wants to do it justice. I can just imagine how happy he is working with a production that shares his passion
