If you know or read history of that region, Issan people in Thailand are ethnic Lao. Their ancestors are from Laos. Similar to Chinese American. American by nationality, but Chinese ethnically.

Love that you both get right in there with the food. You really looked like you enjoyed it. That's the greatest thing about Thai food is it promotes eating lots of fresh vegetables with feeling like you're eating a salad and nothing greasy. Everything presented here made my mouth water. My wife is from Nakhon Phanom I travelled through ISSAN with her... this video is so fun to watch I recognize a lot of the dishes and on occasion we eat them at home too! Great video, we also ate Thai food in Brooklyn not sure if it was there at that restaurant. Gotta love it man Northeast represent!

this looks hella good and authentic. and i say that because 85% of Thai restaurants in America is water down on flavors because they're trying to cater to western taste bud. and i know thai essan lives in thai but this is 100% Laos food.

Sticky rice is where its at though bros especially with how much exposure its gotten now. its a common staple and goes with practically almost everything and yes the people of northern Thailand, Laos, Isaan region eats more sticky rice with everything more than steamed rice. Central thais, southern thais, cambodians, burmese vietnamese eats more steam rice than sticky 🤙 but i still like both 😅🍙🍚

Just the name of the Restaurant lets you know it’s either Isan or Lao. Lao and Isan and Lao are the same people.

I like Thai Isan food, the flavors, the presentation, and new endless creations of menus and its varieties. Thais have been mastering all of these factors in the realm of Isan cuisines for more than 4 decades in an effort to have Isan food in the world stage and in the world of fine dining. So Kudos to all Thai Isan chefs.
