I have to disagree with you. From an engineering standpoint, the drawers you are showing lack both strength and durability. There is no excuse for this shoddiness except simplicity of manufacture and ease of repair when it becomes necessary, and it will. For comparison, an 18th century cabinet maker who built both strong and elegant drawers was Thomas Elfe. Any large drawer should have a mid-drawer support.
