In a world of many dimensions, where reality folded beyond comprehension, Dog Day and Catnap lived as near neighbors in their college dorms. By this point, Dog Day and Catnap had formed a close friendship. They studied together, had meals together, and talked each night about their hopes and fears, and helped to solve each other’s problems.

One evening, as they lounged in Dog Day's room, they overheard a group of students discussing the phenomenon called "Love Sleep." According to the rumor, if two friends slept next to each other for any reason, they would suddenly fall in love. The students were very skeptical of this, speaking in hushed tones about the ridiculousness of the rumor. They never thought about falling in love. They were friends, and this wasn’t yet true to them.

Yet, not long after, a bitter cold swept through the dorms. That night, Dog Day's room was especially freezing, his thin blanket not helping him stay warm. As he curled up under his blanket, shivering, Catnap padded into his room, teeth chattering, and eyes wide with discomfort. "Do you mind if I join you?" Catnap asked, his voice trembling from the cold.

"Of course not, " Dog Day replied, lifting the blanket so Catnap could slip beneath. They huddled together for warmth, neither of them giving a second thought to the old rumor. Love Sleep was just a speculative phenomenon, after all.

But as they lay side by side, something unexpected began to happen. The warmth from their bodies slowly replaced the biting cold, and Dog Day felt a deep, calming peace wash over him. Catnap’s purring filled the room, a soothing rhythm that lulled Dog Day toward sleep. As he closed his eyes, Dog Day realized just how happy he felt in that moment. The comfort of Catnap’s presence, the soft sound of his purrs, the gentle rise and fall of his breathing—it all made Dog Day feel more content than he had ever been.

Then, as sleep crept closer, something else stirred in Dog Day's heart. A warmth that wasn’t just physical but emotional, an overwhelming sense of affection that blossomed into something more. Before he could fully grasp it, he felt himself falling—not into sleep, but into love. It was as if a veil had been lifted, revealing a truth he had never dared to see before: Catnap wasn’t just a friend; he was the most important part of his life. The thought of living without him now seemed unbearable.

Dog Day opened his eyes to look at Catnap, who was already asleep, a serene smile on his face. He had never seen Catnap look so peaceful, so content. It was as if all the worries and burdens that had once weighed on him had vanished, leaving only pure happiness behind. Dog Day felt a tear slip down his cheek, not out of sadness but out of a deep, unspoken joy. How could he have ever thought that life without Catnap was enough? The love he felt now wasn’t something he had expected or even believed in, but now that it was here, he knew he never wanted to let it go.

Curling closer to Catnap, Dog Day decided he would stay right where he was. There was no other place, no other bed, no other way he could ever sleep again. Here, next to Catnap, he had found everything he didn’t know he needed. And as they both drifted into dreams, holding onto the warmth of their newfound love, Dog Day knew that he had finally found his home, in the arms of the friend he had loved all along.
