More equipment that John Deere won't let you fix when it breaks.

After "Right to Repair" protest and farmers repairing the tractors themselves bypassing the software & without any intervention of OEM. John Deere smartly done this autonomous tractor to keep a track on farmers activities.

Maybe you should give out right to repair! So farmers stop spending all their money repairing at your dealership

Support Right to Repair Laws to allow mechanics to live freely!

If this autonomous system costs more than employing a guy to run the tractor
This is not that practical

With John deere infamous anti right to repair stants
I am not sure how this would end up

How does the tractor stop and pick up a big rock that got lodged in the machine it's pulling? Can it see that the bolts came loose and the harrow on the back left the machine 43 acres ago?

I know I don't own a farm but this is really cool!

Seems interesting, but why do I imagine a lot of pissed off farmers? Aside from the obvious right to repair problems, if the autonomy isn’t working you clearly have to go to a JD dealer and have them fix it.

Ok John deere I’ll take your advice, I’m out the cab and going to use my time to drink beer at my local

Absolutely no way I would trust this out in the field!! People are getting way to lazy and trusting of technology!! Some things just need a person involved period!

I think if it can run 24/7 within reason then I think that could really help. but like many of these types of jobs they dont pay very much so the tech would need to be so affordable to compensate.

I'm sure farmers won't be given the tools to repair them...

Guys will pay $500k for a tractor with no operator rather than pay a full time guy to service and operate a $80k one. The depreciation on that new tractor will cover a good man's salary. People who botched about not finding help want to pay $10/hr seasonally.

I help farm for a lot of years. Back in the old school years...where a farmer raised livestock, till ground, raised crops and made a good living and raised a family. One of the things I miss was working ground. Readying the field to be planted. Self driving machinery, trucks and cars...no. Fantastic engineering and technology. But if I can't operate my own machinery then maybe I need to look at how I farm and operate.

It's totally about replacing workers. Why be shy about saying it.
