Just ordered a 'Power Surge' green 5 G3 as my first mountain bike. I don't cycle off road very often so didn't want to spend a lot, but wanted a gearset that wasn't Tourney awful.

Would a marlin 6/7 be a good rough commuter and offroad bike? Likely never used on actual mountain bike trails

There is no real point of buying Marlin 8 since the price is already so close to X-Caliber 8
