The celebrated artist, known for her holiday classic 'All I Want for Christmas Is You,' made her announcement on Monday, expressing gratitude to her fans for their 'love and support.' In an interview, the 55-year-old stated, 'My heart is shattered that I've lost my mother this past weekend. Tragically, my sister also lost her life on that same day.' She added, 'I feel grateful that I was able to spend the last week with my mom before she departed,' and concluded, 'I appreciate everyone's love, support, and respect for my privacy during this incredibly difficult time.' Mariah did not share further information about the causes of death for either of her family members. Sources indicate that Alison had been in home hospice care just prior to her passing, with reports noting that she had been receiving care 'for the last three weeks of her life.' Close friend Dave Baker shared that Alison had been dealing with 'a problem with her internal organs.'
