I had to learn the hard way when to use terracotta for houseplants. In the beginning I killed a few and I didnt understand why. From there I figured out what plant goes best with terracotta. What plants go best with terracotta? These type of pots are great for cacti, succulents any other plant that does not tolerate a lot of water.

I never understood terra cotta and the clout it got. I kept trying to find videos that weren't too long and straight to the point and I found yours. Thank you thank you THANK YOU so much! You really helped me understand terracotta pots! With my hyper-focus (ADHD combined ADD) now I want to buy every size terra cotta in bulk 🤣🤣🤣

Great Video! I started the houseplant hobby since working from home was implemented at my job. I now have 45+ houseplants. All of my plants are doing great! Most of my plants are in terra cotta. I learned the hard way with my Fittonias. I transferred them into plastic pots and it made such a BIG difference. Bottom watering is the way to go! Let me go do a round with my moisture meter right now. It's hot today!

I think your ADHD is a huge advantage doing YouTube videos because the information comes across quick and keeps people engaged in the videos. (Good pace)
Your voice sounds like Paola Lázaro (Princess) from Walking Dead. 😎

My issue in the flat the soil never dry out just after 2-3 months. I tried so many different soil but doesn’t matter. So clay was only things helped

I recently put a croton plant into a granite pot after it was starting to get fungus in a glazed pot.

Temperature is another thing that people have to take into consideration.

Moisture meters can be very helpful.

When I lived in SoCal, I only had succulents--lots of aloes and jade plants. I kept them outside in terracotta pots with terracotta plates underneath. I top watered once each week and they thrived! I always poured out whatever poured out into the plate, thinking it wasn't good for them to sit in water, afraid of root rot. Was I wrong about that? The little ones I had indoors in plastic inside a decorative ceramic pot...not so much luck. I now live in Tennessee and can't keep plants outside in the winter as I did in California. My pothos/philodendron and monstera do better in plastic or only in water, no soil. I spill out water that sits underneath in the plate. But my succulents all died inside! I thank you for explaining the whole terracotta soaking up the water thing! I will never put an indoor succulent in a plastic or undrainable planter/pot again! And maybe I can try butt chugging them, too...?

Glazed terracotta pot is also an option, it won’t be as porous but also not as humidity trapping like a plastic pot.

"Because whooaaa! If you drop it, you is screwed!" Hilarious! I never realized certain plants did better in terracotta. Just never made the connection. Thanks for the info!

I just got a Hoya rope plant already in a terracotta pot. I was searching for a video that would tell me if my bottom watering was working because the soil did not seem to be getting moist🪴Now I get it!
