Hello! I’m in the US, and I’ve never had butter on the inside of a sandwich, only on the outside like when making toasted cheese. On the inside of savory sandwiches we spread condiments like mayonnaise or mustard. On another note, I am loving your new manor house series! Beautifully filmed and narrated.

I am seeing several from the US saying they never had butter spread on the inside of the sandwich bread. I’m 74 and as a child in New England, my mother, US born, did exactly that. We always had our bread sandwiches with a spread of butter then whatever made up the sandwich. My grandmother came from Ireland so perhaps my mother learned from her. I personally never did that with my children though. I love your programs and all the history walks. Thank you so much!

Absolutely with you about Redcar and that ice cream parlour where I went once 🫣 … But I wanted to thank you for inspiring me to go and discover Barley Hall which I had never heard of before watching your previous show! I had a wondrous time, superb volunteers and staff! Benningbrough Hall is a favourite of mine and in all seasons!
