I made a Bed supported on ROCKS!

I used granite boulders weighing about 200-300lbs and walnut to make a bed for my new house. The bed is attached to the wall with a steel ledge so that it appears to float with the wood frame resting on 2 granite stones. I cut the stones with an angle grinder and lined them with cork to keep the stone from scratching the wood.

I like the stone a lot but I definitely would have put the rocks under the bed instead of sticking out the sides, that way it would use a lot less floor space and look more cohesive

I like the look, except my personal preference would have the rocks under the frame more. To me, it just looks like the rocks are placed next to the bed rather than supporting the end of the bed. The wood frame is gorgeous! If you like it, that’s all that matters though.

As you went with a rustic natural theme consisting of just rock and wood, no screw japanese joinery would have been a much cooler route for the mattress's base. Great work regardless!

This is really awesome, if I may make one suggestion, the headboard could be wider, as in reaching closer to each edge of the mattress/frame. Seems a tad odd to not be as wide as the mattress, let alone the frame itself. IMO this is where you could really improve the aesthetics. Otherwise I love the design!

That protruding wood frame itself will smash your shins in, and then you added two big boulders to finish off the job.
