For people who think its unrealistic that the portal was below the village, its actually very common in bedrock edition for it to spawn under the closest village

Bedrock player here: boats have fall damage on BE, but instead horses don't. You could easily have jumped down into that ravine with the horse.
The closest stronghold to world spawn is almost always under the first village you find, because on BE strongholds try to generate under villages.
It's also possible to push horses into nether portals.
And yeah, that horse was awfully slow. It really deserved it's name.

1:22 It's definitely possible to spawn underwater on java 1.20. Although it might require specific conditions.
One occurence of this I encountered was using the seed `Copium` with the "Large Biomes" options. I spawned in an ocean so absurdely large, that MC presumably gave up on trying to find a platform for me to step on.

The tactics go crazy in this one
Kinda glad you had a horse tho cuz it would’ve driven someone insane trying to slowly move around on a boat

on java, before they removed the customized world type you could use that to generate a world where the sea level was so high the game is forced to spawn you in water, sadly that feature was removed some time ago

"the mere act of existing puts me in serious danger" so relatable

You can tell someone's a Java player when they say "WOW! The Stronghold was directly below my village??!!"
(I also play Java, but it's funny how so many Java players don't know that's just a thing on BE)

From hitman to Minecraft.. that’s like 2 opposite ends of the gaming spectrum. Love it

tiny land biomes in the middle of an ocean are often completely submerged, and they can be spawn points. when using that, you spawn above water in java edition. i found this while looking for good island seeds

The portal thing is in both versions, stacked/riding mobs can never go through portals, mobs in minecarts and boats included, which is the main thing that makes moving them between the nether and overworld somewhat difficult.

Java edition CAN spawn you in the middle of the ocean. Some examples: 209070238 ; 103129428 ; 55615617

I swear it used to be possible to spawn in water in Java edition. I remember spawning in oceans and hoping to find an island before I starved. That was a long time ago though, I remember it stopped happening at some point. Maybe it only ever happened if a mod changed the terrain generation? I habitually play modded. And there were certainly no sunken ruins at that time, so getting started would have been extremely painful. Edit: Although, did you even end up using the chest loot? Maybe it wouldn't make too much difference.

At least in Java, you can snipe the caged end crystals from below. Stand a few blocks away from the pillar and shoot through the bottom corner.

I played Java and Bedrock, but I never seen a horse THAT slow. 💀

As someone who does a lot of speedrunning in minecraft and who has generated 10s of thousands of worlds I can safely say that it's not only possible, but even not *that* rare to spawn in the ocean. However while speedrunning you would usually use 1.16.1 so I'm not sure if this is the case in the most recent version of minecraft.

I love how casual you explained your death as you died to a bedrock boatfall physics

You seem to skip a lot of crucial moments that make the video believable

How do you navigate in a boat at night without a hostile mob hopping in the back of your boat and killing you? That's gotta be super difficult; when landboating, always keep a second lifeboat just in case!
