Vaporia, Ermoupolis

Ermoupolis, named after the ancient god of trade and communication, has been built from refugees from Chios, Smyrna, Psara, who had sought shelter in this small island that was under the protection of the french king, due to its catholic inhabitants, during the greek revolution of 1821. An ambitious city flourished under the picturesque old village.
