Well, at first I also didn't believe that Mughals were Mongols but then I started reading history.

Babur was related to Genghis Khan through his mother, "Qutlugh Nigar Khanum" a mongolian princess. She was the daughter of Yunus Khan (Khan of Mogholistan), a descendant of Genghis Khan's second son, Chaghatai Khan (Khan of Mongol).
And Babur's father Umar Shaikh Mirza II was a Trimurid prince.

Now, come to Taimur lang who ((whose dynasty known as trimurid))was also a descendant of Genghis Khan from paternal side.

"Mughal" was the Persian pronunciation of "Mongols". The Persian people pronounced it.
So, Mughal is a mispronounced word of Mongol.

And yes, the religious root of Mughals/Mongols wasn't Islam at their initial stage. But, after Genghis Khan's death his son Berke Khan converted to islam. And slowly his brothers, sons, nephews becoming Muslim. So, Mughals became muslims.

That's why Babur was Chengis Khan's descendant from his paternal and maternal both sides. And the whole Mughal nation ((by Persian pronunciation)) was actually a Mongol nation.

Completely incorrect Babur was the decendent of Ameer Taimur who was a mongol and baburs mother was from Chungaiz khan's family So yes Mughals are mongol

Genghis Khan's grandfather's grandfather's had 2 son's one of which taimur is from (the one that did not got the power and can't be called Khan) and one which is Genghis Khan is from (the one which got power that can be called Khan). And Babur is an descendent of taimur. So technically Babur is not related to Genghis Khan directly.

Actually Mughals were descended from Timur & Genghis khan who also shared blood but later their descendants married and their descendants were then called mughals. Mughals came from Uzbekistan.

I explain the the Babur was fifth descendent of Timur by paternal. The Genghis Khans third son chagtai, s sisxth descendent is mother of Babur, and fun fact is Timur and Genghis Khan are both have same paternial ancestor different sources tell different name of both ancestor but yeah . 11 generation before Timur, s paternal ancestor and Genghis Khan Great great grandfather is twin brother so they distinct cousin not directly related.
