Morgan Freeman's voice can make talking about drying paint seem interesting.

My dad saw this in IMAX when it first came out and i'm watching it for the first time for a college geology course. This is so amazing but I honestly feel wrong watching it on my laptop. It deserves grandeur, damn it!

I first saw this film at an IMAX theater in 1996. I enjoyed it so much I bought it on VHS. When it became available on DVD, I scooped it up too. I can't believe it's been that long.

Required viewing for my college AST course. I appreciate this teaching tool. Places things in a great perspective and better than a professor's lecture could ever be.

I had never ever seen this before, being someone born in the mid-2000’s. Upon discovering and watching the entirety of this, I absolutely fell in love with it! The music is probably what I love the most! Sad we don’t get beautiful stuff like this now with emotional-sounding music.

Edit: We watched this in my college class on Thursday, and I can’t tell you how much I extremely enjoyed it.

We are so lucky to be able to see and understand how complex everything is, and try to leave our planet, the story is amazing, better than any religion, my mind is blown away, makes you wonder what the big bang exploded in, the fact we can understand that is amazing

I live in the town that houses the notes Galileo took on those nights in January of 1610. He used a rough draft of a letter to the Doge of Venice. I have seen these notes and held them (the are in a protective folder). This draft letter has crossed out text, and interpolated text. It was know to be in the hand of Galileo, but was considered a piece of scrap paper. A collector donated it to the University of Michigan in 1930. In 1985, an historian whose specialty was Galileo, came to view it. He was the first to notice the "doodles" were more than that. By using a computer it was possible to show the five doodles were an exact match to the positions of Jupiter's "Galilean Moons" on those nights recorded as clear of clouds in the records of Venice for that January of 1610. It took Galileo three months to realize he was seeing moons orbiting around Jupiter, because it so violated the then accepted explanation of the universe.

I go to bed watching and then listening to this video as I drift off to sleep... I frequently start my day watching it. I have seen it thousands of times, and it gives me the same sense of wonder and peaceful joy as it did the first time I saw it.
