Description:
Welcome to the Home Energy Audits Webinar co-sponsored by The City of Ottawa and SMARTNet Alliance. With a Federal Incentive for Energy Efficient Home Retrofits and the City of Ottawa’s new proposed Better Home Loans Program, we are primed to see a massive scale up in home retrofits. If you are thinking of applying to take part in either of these programs, an Energuide Home Energy Audit will be your first step. The EnerGuide evaluation is carried out by an energy advisor who is registered with Natural Resources Canada. Afterwards, the homeowner receives an EnerGuide rating that demonstrates the energy performance of their home. It is an estimate of the net amount of energy your house consumes in a year. We will have three expert Energy Advisors presenting on the process and what to expect from an audit. They will detail the steps taken, including how to evaluate your results and what you can do afterwards to move towards Net Zero energy consumption.
We’ll hear from the following expert speakers:
· Marcus Hinds a Certified Energy Advisor, who will demystify the process and share some valuable tips that can help you have a successful audit. He will show how to determine the most valuable retrofits, and share some of the best strategies to manage your retrofit project as a whole
· Scott Meyer, Energy Programs Manager at EnviroCentre. Scott will be detailing the onsite process and what you can expect the day of your evaluation. What are the best ways to prepare your home for the audit and what can you expect the auditor to be doing? Scott will outline all this and also run down the blower door test and other tools used during the evaluation.
· Stephen Magneron from Homesol Building Solutions. Stephen is a Registered Energy Advisor and long time advocate of Net Zero living. He will outline the next steps you can take after your audit is complete. He will go over the upgrade report and detail what to look for and let you know where you can go next on a practical journey to Net Zero. He will also be discussing the different technologies that will be available to you and demonstrate what might be possible in your home.
Following the presentations, we will hear from a representative from the City of Ottawa who will be outlining the upcoming proposed Better Home Loan Program. How can you tap into this fund, how much money can you get, and what can you use it for? We will answer these questions and learn all about this ambitious program.
There will be time for questions following each speaker and after the presentations we will open things up for further discussion. Some SMARTNet Alliance Members will also be on hand to chat about next steps after your audit and what services are available to you.
If you are curious about what you can do to your home to make it more energy efficient this is the webinar for you. Join us at 6:30 pm EST on Thursday, May 27 to hear about the first step: Home Energy Audits. Registration is FREE but will be limited so grab your spot today and join as we launch the Energy Evolution Home Retrofit Webinar Series.
