Ford Transit MS-RT - It's more than just a van.... I love it

A Ford Transit van is often associated to being a builders van but The MS-RT is more than just a van. I bought this a few months ago and it ticks all of the boxes.

I was looking for something that would be great for the family, great for the dogs and that had good loading space for bikes etc. This Ford Transit Custom is the short wheelbase version and it ticks all of the boxes for me.

It doesn't come cheap at around £57000 but when you jump in and drive it you also understand it drives more like a car than a van. It's finished unbelievably well inside and out and is very comfy.

They are a fantastic looking van, I just couldn’t justify the extra £14, 000 over the sport I have just ordered, specced up with 5 year manufacturer warranty.

Got mine in Grey Matter, DCiV and Auto for £38, 895 plus VAT, similar spec MS-RT was £53, 000 plus VAT

I had a bog standard 2018 one as a company work van and thought it was a joy to drive. The only issue i had was sometimes the stereo system would just randomly decide not to work on some days. Always wanted one of these.

It is better than any suv so much space, but the only down side is much older relatives getting in and out as it is high.

That’s a cracker of a van mate 🔥 my first van is going to be MK6 2002 2.0 as an economy alternative as I’ve a Mercedes SUV so I need something transport cows and livestock sometimes so preferably a mid size roof short wheel base be perfect

A van that looks good and drives like a sports sedan is a thing of beauty. Its the vehicle that seldom says, "we can't do that". I personally find that trait to be enduring.

I am also an owner and love the product it looks great and that’s where it finishes. The quality is shockingly bad the plastic bumpers are simply bonded on so over time with weather conditions, flex of the vehicle moving they crack and break. In 34 months of ownership it’s on its second front bumper plus both sills replaced. Also keep your eyes on the paintwork in particular front and rear arches stone chips, the paint couldn’t be any thinner. Also the rear arch mouldings with get peppered with chips, the quantity needs to improve drastically.

I have a Race red LWB auto DCIV, I picked up in March on a 22 plate. Love mine too.

Personally I was dissatisfied to see the lack of a quality finish around the speedo and Rev counter binnacle they should of extended the piano black to the centre dash console or matched the carbon from the steering wheel…but that aside it’s a really lovely van to look at and more importantly drive 👍

Hi stevie van and house are both looking good mate hope u and the family are all well very versatile vehicle as luxury as a car but then could work if you wanted it to nice watch u have there mate looking to get the business up and running soon will give u a shout would be nice to meet u sometime or do some business with u either by buying a retail car or some of your trade ins etc . I would love an MS-RT Transit I am strongly thinking about it been looking at the Engine mods bigger intercooler and the remap for around a couple of grand, And the suspension kits too.think I will supervise the wife and just not tell her.

Is this good as a family car of six? Are they reliable? Any known issues? Are the rear seats comfortable for long drives?

This van looks the dogs dangly bits and I would love one as a self employed coffee machine engineer. Over £50k though is way out of my price range unfortunately. Very nice though. I have a Ford Mundano 2.0 estate, 66 plate with the powershift gearbox and I must say the auto box is really good, drove my other halfs Fiesta the other day and I was, oh, yeah, dip the clutch and put into first haha !! What's the mpg like Steve ?
