So grateful for your discussion this week. Made me think of a Canadian Pastor, writer, blogger, speaker; Carey Nieuwhof. He writes that the more a Pastor takes his hands off of micro managing; the more the church will grow. He states, to let your people take ownership and feel a part of the Church. If the Pastor makes ever single decision, from choosing the toilet tissue, too the colour of paint in the janitors room, too choosing what font to use, for the poster for a baby shower: the Church will never grow to what God had in mind. You are right! Let the church people use their creative gifts and feel apart of something bigger than themselves, is the recipe for success.. All done in order of course...

And that is why I really hate the term "laity". It is a false concept that causes people to believe that all they have to do is come and consume. While in actuality, everyone that has obeyed the gospel of Jesus Christ is called to be a minister, with a ministry. Sure everyone is not called to a pulpit ministry, or what we refer to as the five-fold ministry. Nonetheless, everyone in the Church is a minister/servant with a ministry/service. Part of our calling as leaders of congregations is to help the saints discover, actualize, and fulfill their calling/ministry within the local assembly (church) and the body of Christ (Church) as a whole.
Once again, a great episode.
