This is an excellent video. A problem which I often encounter where I live is what I call a "collective delusion", whereby the locals refuse to perceive reality qua reality. Specifically, the condition of their communities, which, to visitors, has fallen into a state of abject despair. They're anchored by "community pride" just because the acknowledgement of another's opinion--even if it's formed on objective reality--is such an affront to their self-esteem that it creates an immediate cognitive dissonance, which, in turn, results in the simplest and most convenient form of argument: the ad hominem.

Most people aren't capable of engaging in well-reasoned discussion and debate without resorting to logical fallacies, even when one isn't "talking above their level" by labeling anchor bias when it exists. Speaking for myself, learning critical thinking skills took a long time and it was a struggle--sometimes it still happens--to acknowledge and overcome my own c.d. when I know it's happening.

I know this may be a silly analogy, but only a few days ago I wanted to learn how to make a marinade. I watched my first YouTube video which served as my anchor point and I was initially going to head straight to the kitchen. Video #2 explained that a marinade should include vinegar because of the affect it has on the meat. After keeping both recipes in mind, a cursory web search populated many websites which addressed my anchor bias. Vinegar won! 😆

I'll look forward to your next video! Thank you!

"Anchoring bias", this is my first time in hearing. I learned something new today. Thank you for the explanation.
