How to find the best health insurance plan
Показать описание
Looking for a health care plan?
We talked to Mistie Hinote on TDI’s Public Affairs team about what you should know before selecting health insurance coverage.
Where can I get health insurance?
There are four possible options:
1. Employer: If your employer has a plan, it may pay for parts of it.
2. Spouse’s employer: If your spouse’s employer offers a plan, you may want to compare the costs and benefits of being added to it.
How do I select a health care plan?
If you have a medical or a mental health issue, you want to make sure there are benefits that you can use. The same thing goes for your doctors and prescriptions. If you have a doctor you like, make sure the plan will let you keep going to that provider. If you have medicine you take, make sure your prescription is covered.
You also want to look at the price, or the out-of-pocket cost, and what you're going to have to pay. There are copays and deductibles. Copays are what you pay every time you go to the doctor and the deductible is the part you must pay.
If a plan has a low premium, look carefully at the benefits. The out-of-pocket costs might be higher.
