As always, great advice. I met my wife in Cebu. She was my waitress at the hotel I stayed at. So many wonderful girls working at hotels also. Well, as you said, wonderful girls everywhere in the Philippines and if you want to avoid the scammers, try to focus on finding one with a regular job. They are usually self sufficient, a good head on their shoulders and because they are working they are not solely looking for a sugar daddy.

My opinion based on being married to a Filipina for 15 years, visiting many times, living there for 18 months in the US Military, searching on online dating sites, Northern Luzon, Mountain provinces, is the best place. Hard working, honest people - never had a taxi driver try to take advantage. Remember you're marrying the family so check them out thoroughly. Don't go too young; I met my wonderful wife at 35 years old. She was college educated and established in her career as a teacher. All the scammers I met online were from the South, mostly Cebu. They started asking for money right away: huge red flag. My wife never asked for a cent.

Today I was with my girlfriend and it was lunchtime. In mindanao in midsayap there is colleges and right across the street is a jolly bee. The place was full of college students having lunch. As a foreigner I get lot of smiles and looks of approval. If I was single I would just go there Monday thru Friday at lunchtime and meet tons of girls. Don't need to go to bars or malls to meet them. Just my suggestion.

Depends what is important to you. For me it has to be a girl that has been working out on a regular basis and its part of her life. Can't see that as a priority for a province girl!

Gio, I gotta live in the city. Too many guys spend time getting into a relationship and have yet to find their footing. I loved your suggestion about hanging around a particular location to meet a woman in your desired profession, i.e., a nurse, NOT a bar girl.

No matter where I relocate, it'll take nearly a year to get acclimated to the area first, then find the girl. I believe in a variety of dating till I find that person to pursue a long-term relationship.

Both of my parents is born and raised in the province thats why they are so conservative, I'm born and raised in Manila but we raised us in traditional way, we have a curfew ( girls 8pm boys 10pm) and no boyfriend until we're not graduate in college, sometimes it's not about province or city, it's about the family if they raised them in traditional way, my father is from Leyte, 10 years ago it's so easy to find a maid in Leyte but now we hardly find one because they parent taught them to find a foreigner.. we had 6 maids and 2 of them married to foreigners, they parents taught them to find foreigner just to help them out from poverty, its a sad reality... For me better choose a woman that their parents don't treat them as a retirement plan .

There's a lot of good Filipina women who are working abroad like in the middle east but majority of them are not in the dating sites I'm one of those expat but I'm taken already looolll with my american bf, I met him online though and he visited last year during summer. I'm glad he took the chance

Great post Gio! love your insight, honesty, and education… about women coming in from the provinces to work in the city… and also, for myself, it’s almost expected that if you meet a province girl…. In the city or anywhere else…. You meet the family get married and now you support her and the family…… and you’re expected to move out to the province… again, for me, with nothing to do, and a full family to support….. it’s simply not in the cards! 😝
