Just 10% of breast cancer risk can be solely explained by genetics. That means that 90% of risk is related to factors that we can both directly, and indirectly, impact for positive health outcomes.
Air pollution is a form of place-based chemical exposure and has been linked to increased breast cancer risk. Sources of air pollution include tobacco smoke, indoor wood burning, and more systemic sources such as traffic, industrial and agricultural activities, and fossil fuel combustion.
