'I Never Sit On Files' | Nirmala Sitharaman To Shashi Tharoor Over Pending Dues For GST Compensation

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said, "I never sit on files", in reply to Congress MP Shashi Tharoor's question over pending dues for GST compensation.

"Since Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had just told the Lok Sabha that all pending dues for GST compensation had been paid to the states, I sought clarification of the position regarding Kerala, whose Finance Minister has averred that Rs. 4439 crores are still due in shortfalls since 2017," Tharoor tweeted.

It's only because this absence of transparency of public service, the mistrust between the State and the Centre in so called federal structure of our constitution that after 58 years of our becoming independent India, we had to promulgate such declaratory statute like RTI Act just to ascertain that State i.e the Government is not telling what it ought to its subjects i.e the citizen.
