New arc line has the arcanium-ish setting (blend of tech and magic) which instantly made me interested. The thaumaturge gives me a "playing as tremere in bloodlines" vibe too.

Re: games like Arcanum, inXile's Clockwork Revolution is supposedly still aiming for launch this year. Their dev team includes some of the Troika people who worked on Arcanum, specifically Jason Anderson and Chad Moore. Clockwork looks less far along than New Arc Line and there's no announced date so who knows if it'll actually hit this year. It's nevertheless interesting that we're suddenly getting two titles inspired by Arcanum/steampunk at the same time.

So incredibly excited to have you call out Skald Mortim 🥳 Been a fan for such a long time and it's amazing to have you keep an eye on my "baby"!

"Pretty desperate for something related to or inspired by Arcanum at this point"....my man, that one hit hard ...totally relatable and I really do hope we get a sequel or at the very least somekind of remaster after the recent news .

So awesome to see Skald! I grabbed the demo on a whim and loved it. Looking forward to a potential review!

New Arc Line seems the most interesting of the bunch for me, but with so many from last year still to play I'll wait to see your review.

My favorite genre since the early days of Ultima. A standout for me was Betrayal at Krondor. Probably has not aged gracefully but it was quite a leap for its time.

I am very interested in Thaumaturge because I recently played Black Book and there's few enough games made with Eastern European/Slavic/Russian lore in the anglophone world. I find the parallels between the thaumaturge/koldun and salutor/chort very interesting.

As a quick aside, did you see that Obsidian have responded to Avowed combat problems and are promising to make it more satisfying?

Skald really looks like a 1990 CRPG ! Cute. It might be a worthwhile CRPG ; let us hope.

Really looking forward to New Arc Line, myself. Loved Arcanum, and would like to play a modern version of anything like it.

So a heads up on the Geneforge series as a whole: GF3 is usually considered the series’ weakest. The writing isn’t as good, there’s an annoying travel system, and it doesn’t do a ton new. It’s also primitive enough in UI and mechanics you might find it tough to go back. It came out at a tough time for Spiderweb.
Jeff Vogel has said he wants to improve Geneforge 3 a lot in a remake, though that’s a few years off - whether it’s worth waiting is up to you. And the good news either way is that Geneforge 4 and 5 did a lot to reinvigorate the series and are much more positively regarded. Plus their mechanics and QOL are more modernized (though not as much as the remakes).

If you do wait, there’s other Spiderweb games to keep you busy - in addition to Avernum (A4’s remake will probably come before GF3 btw), the recent Queen’s Wish series is well-liked and Nethergate (while primitive) has a unique setting and faction setup I think you’d like.

Thanks for bringing out this kind of content, super easy and entertaining way to keep up with releases and upcoming titles. Would love to see some Coverage on Fog & Silver whenever we learn more about it! :)

You have certainly saved me a lot of time since I came across your channel (saved WotR for me, became one of my favs). I have come to trust your judgement and our opinions are pretty similar, so I no longer try to sift through the overwhelming amount of games coming out in the near future. So, an overdue thank you. I'm sure you have looked into it, but I have not seen you mention a recent under the radar gem on any of the vids of i've seen. "Svarog's Dream" is pure genius by a small indie dev. My guess is this is already on your list to 100%review, but wanted to make sure it didn't get overlooked.

I don't know how *you* find out about all these titles but I grateful that you do otherwise most would miss my radar 😁

The additional clarification about the Thaumaturge cards UI is appreciated.
I must keep in mind that it's just a different UI for accessing your available combat actions, rather than yet another bottom screen bar.
I know I will forget and then be more suspicious than I otherwise would be.
Nice overview.

Thanks for the video. Would've guessed Zoria: Age of Shattering to be on this list. Onward to 300k. All glory to the algorithm.

Man there are so many games to look forward to. I’m look forward to all of these. I hope the Mac version of Skald comes to fruition — I want to play this one on my MacBook sitting in bed.

I’m finishing up Sovereign Syndicate at the moment. What a little indie gem of a narrative RPG.

I'd give a big recommend for Spiderweb's newest series: Queen's Wish. I think you'd dig it.
