Star lord was damaged goods. He just needs some time to put himself back together. It's a great analogue for both mantis and Star lord actually. Both of them were created, tormented, and enslaved by Ego, their FATHER, so they've got some issues. I feel like this is the perfect end for his character in the MCU. He had his moments, but now he just needs to live instead of fighting to live.

I remember watching the first guardians of the Galaxy of theaters and thinking I feel really bad for his grandfather loses his daughter and his grandson goes missing. I’m very glad they gave him the peace of mind, knowing his grandson at least he was able to grow up

Impossible. With all his space traveling at proposed lightspeed, there is no way hes able to come back to earth without a time penalty.
Gramps would be long gone and he'd be looking at an earth thousands of years ahead of which he left.
