Laaree Chootee | Xulfi

Laaree Chootee was a defining moment for me. Didn't know what journey it will take me to. But I'm glad I wrote, sang and produced this song for my band. Never thought I am writing a song for a movie even when I was. Just felt I should reflect on my life and pen those thoughts down.

2007. I remember the room in which I wrote this. The moment. The melody and the words. It attracted me that the movie was about how fate can turn a life around. "Qismet" was already a favorite topic of mine and this opportunity of writing a song about that was also my "Qismet". So I wrote about that, but in my own simple way. I won't probably go into what I meant with those words at the time when I was writing them because since the moment this song released, all of you have made this melody very close to your own hearts and hence ageless. It's as much a part of your journey now as it's mine. So today, it means what YOU feel it as. What YOU know it as.

Every other day, I see a new cover of this song. Trust me, it makes my day .. every day.

P.S. Interesting facts about this song.
1 - I wrote the second verse while waiting for my flight at the airport.
2 - I didn't have a midi keyboard to play the melody that was in my head. So just sequenced it on the mouse on the piano roll.
3 - The mix project exceeded the computer resources. Listening to it was tedious as the project kept hanging. So at the end, when I was 80 percent done with the mix, I just exported it and sent it for the master. Just couldn't take it anymore. haha..
