WOMAN and TIME: Ethel Kennedy

Показать описание
Ethel Kennedy married in 1950 and became a widow in 1968. During 18 years of marriage she gave birth to 11 children.
Their eleventh child was born after the assassination of Robert Kennedy in The Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles. Ethel was in that hotel, too.
Ethel took an active part in the election campaigns of her husband`s brother and of her husband.
After the death of her husband, Ethel continues to participate in the political life of the country.
And she still has a lot of children and these children already have children...
She continued to live at the family home, Hickory Hill, until 2009, when it was sold.

How did she have eleven children in such a short amount of time and manage to stay beautiful, energetic and slim throughout those years? She really made it look easy. Hats off to you, Mrs. Kennedy!

What a strong inspirational woman. She has endured so much. She's still championing causes. She has been a tireless campaigner in the name of Kennedy.

I have so much respect for Ethel Kennedy and what she has gone through in her life, good and bad. She has such integrity and class. She always looks younger than she is. She really was in love with Bobby and adored him. A match from Heaven. What a beautiful couple they were and family. Many blessings 🙏 to her.

God bless her having 11 kids. Must have been very hard on her raising them alone after Bobby was killed and they were so young. Jackie only had two, so as hard as it was losing Jack, she had it much easier than Ethel.

I admire the Kennedy family. how difficult it must have been for Ethel to be alone with her 11 children. She had a lot of strength, and she brought her 11 children forward in the same way as Robert Kennedy would have wanted. A great mother and wife. An amazing lady.

The month before Bobby was assassinated, a national magazine had an article on how Ethel could dress and be more glamorous. I loved them both. She is a strong woman.

So enjoyed going down memory lane undoubtedly without her strong Catholic faith and sacraments she was sustained by Gods Grace, one can only admire this gutsy woman, so beloved by her large close family. May Almighty God bless all the Kennedys and keep them strong in their faith and trust in God’s mercy and love.

I remember sitting at the table eating breakfast the morning after Robert Kennedy was shot. I was 7 or 8 and my grandfather walked into the kitchen and told my mother, "...Kennedy's been shot". My mother gasped in horror. Many years later I read that someone talked with and/or asked Ethel Kennedy about dealing with so many tragedies in her family and Mrs. Kennedy replied, "After a storm the birds sing. Why shouldn't we?"
