Thank you very much Mr Gibson. You have made the methodology clear and simple. I must have been asleep in class 50 years ago. What i am trying to do is find the qube roots of random numbers including those with decimal places ─ non-perfect Cubes if you like. I expect though that I will find this if I follow your links. I think, we restrict the number under square root symbol to be positive as we want only one positive root. This is not a restriction for cube root.
For the obvious reason we write √x^2=|x|
