I’d watch an hour long video on freeway signs.

Even that small sign is giant compared to a human

Limon CO is undoubtedly the best control city

A pet peeve of mine is when highways use control cities that they don’t even reach. For instance, I-57 south in Illinois uses Memphis as its main control city, but it terminates in southeast Missouri, and its planned expansion is toward Little Rock, not Memphis

I lived in Ocean City Maryland. When leaving the City via Rt 50, there's a control sign that says "Sacramento CA 3073 miles " I always wondered if the opposite sign was in Sacramento 🤔 I doubt it.

I live on an interstate between two large cities, and they use each other as control cities. It's nice to be able to drive 120 miles home without ever using GPS to figure out where to go

On 59 South, just as you get towards Houston, there’s an indicator for a u-turn to get to Lufkin, probably an hour back the way you came. I never understood that one.

The control city has to have something to do with population as well. Palm Springs or Palm Desert are arguably more well known than Indio but the latter has more residents than any other city in the Coachella Valley.

Some of my country's directional signs are terrible, for example, some signs have extremely small fonts despite the sign itself being mostly empty, and also there's a lot of text stating the place you're heading despite no one cares about it

the most interesting control city ive seen is Lewistown PA. Signs in both Harrisburg and State College list Lewistown instead of each other on 322 despite the fact that much of the long distance traffic on those roads is probably travelling between Harrisburg and State College. They actually (I believe fairly recently) changed the signs exiting Harrisburg to say State College instead of Lewistown but the signs exiting State College still say Lewistown, not Harrisburg.

You should have an hour long video and test afterwards for your driver's license.. genuinely good stuff here!

Hey Rob, don’t your two sign examples (Indio and Beaumont) not actually work for this short because they’re indicating the same freeway in 2 different directions?

Because 99% of people use GPS these days, we should just get rid of pretty much all signs except for the exit signs. Everything else is redundant

Lol I lived near Beaumont as a kid. Inland Empire

Just an hour talking about freeway signs? YouTube creator Control City Freak has spent multiple *years* making videos about this topic.

Control cities are overrated everyone has a GPS.. even without it most people know what direction they need to travel (except for parts of a North/South road that travels East, /West for more than a few miles)

Whenever someone new moves to Southern California, I have to explain to them that the San Diego Freeway...doesnt go to San Diego.
