A brief demo of the HP-85 personal computer and the 82950A 300 bps Modem. Also, What the heck is this doing in here? What's the background on it? I found the answer! The orange blocks were Sprague parts that were specifically filter networks for modem design!

This one was much more polished feeling, good work. Really dug the section when you dialed out and watched you bounce around a bit. While the tech details are nifty, I love to see the ways they can still be used.

Where did the CTRL-G being a beep originate? I remember learning how to make old PCs do that when I was a kid. As I recall, you could also echo it to LPT1 and most printers would beep as well.

Ya can't please everyone, Dj. Nice video. Sometimes the "long ramblings" have the most interesting content.

You are correct about the large Motorola chip being the modem itself. It is an MC68860. The two large Sprague hybrid modules below it are active line filters; the 207C300 is the transmit filter and the 207C400 is the receive filter. I couldn't read the part number of the large ceramic chip on top but I would suspect that is the interface logic for the computer's expansion bus.

Were you the original operator of RMAC?
