Top 10 Ways To Get Video Clients You Can Use Right Now

There are tons of different options when it comes to marketing.
And I’ve tried nearly all of them in the last decade. So as I go through these, I’ll share a quick note about my personal experience on which ones got me the fastest results.

Cold calling/cold email
This is more of a sales technique than marketing and probably my least favorite of all the options.
This process is simple. You choose an industry first. Then you create a list of people that are decision-makers within that industry for their company. You can get a VA to create this list for you or you can use buy these lists.
Mailshake or Reply io are two platforms that can really help in the process.
Direct messaging (Instagram or LinkedIn)
Similar to cold emails, you can send a direct message to someone on Instagram and LinkedIn.
I’ve used LinkedIn to do this as it has the best potential for us in the B2B industry.
You can also really narrow down your search and the filter option speeds up the process significantly.
Word-of-mouth marketing
This is probably how most filmmakers get clients, which is through referrals from existing or past clients. For most people, this happens naturally and outside their control. But I like to have a process where I actually add referrals from happy clients.
In-person networking
That’s when you go to industry events and try to meet people that will buy from you.
Most filmmakers attend filmmaking networking events. But in order to generate leads and clients, you need to attend industry-specific events that the type of clients you want to attend.
Public Relations
Getting write-ups in the press, including blogs, magazines, etc.
This one can be very beneficial but hard to implement.
After an accomplishment, you can get a press release written about you or write it yourself and distribute it using Newswire or similar platforms.
You can also do charity work and in exchange, get a link or mention it back to your website.
Paid advertising
There are many forms of paid advertising, but I will cover online paid advertising as it is the most effective form of paid advertising for a small business.
The top Ad platforms currently are YouTube/Google ad platforms. The Facebook/Instagram ad platform, TikTok ad platform, and LinkedIn ad platform.
Content Marketing (Video, Audio, or text format)
This is time-consuming, but a fantastic long-term strategy for free lead generation.
You can do this with blog posts or by using social media content to build awareness.
SEO/SEM
The idea behind SEO is to optimize your website for specific keywords that your target audience is searching for via Google. If you do this right and you can get your website to show up number 1 or even on the first page on Google, it will have a massive impact.
Search engine optimization is a great lead generator and one of the first things that work for me, but it’s time-consuming and I don’t recommend it before paid ads.
Ahref is a good platform for this.
Email Marketing
Once you capture a lead and have their email address, you can use a sequence of emails or newsletters to keep them engaged and eventually sell them your service. Again, this is long-term but effective.
The platform I use for email marketing is called Active Campaign.
Influencer Marketing
You can pay social media influencers or get on podcasts to get your name out there. If they have the right target audience, you can actually reach a lot of your potential customers. You can manually reach out to social media influencers using the contact they provide on their profile page and make an offer.
