In honor of Pride Month, enjoy this list of 30 Queer Scientists in History. Learn about queer history and science history with this list of 30 scientists you didn't know were gay, trans, or otherwise part of the LGBTQ+ community due to straight-washing and erasure in historical representation. From closeted to open to founding 500 Queer Scientists, Astra will take you through their science and lives in a gay speed round. Happy Pride Month from the Queer women of Bad Astra. Celebrate gay science, trans science, ace science, non-binary science, and Pride Month with us!

We understand that this list is disproportionately white men, due to both the whitewashing of history and the historical oppression of BIPOC. If you know of any Queer BIPOC Scientists with major accomplishments who we missed, please put them in the comments!

So incest in the mid 1800s is ok? When exactly did it become not so ok for you? And outing dead people based in nothing but hearsay just to claim them, dubiously, as LGBTQ is likewise ok? There are plenty of LGBTQ scientists who are living and out who would be fine with being used as examples, I am sure. Of course that would require their permission. Did you ask permission of any of the scientists? I find this entire video reprehensible and you should be reported to the AAS for violating their guidelines.

Thank you so much for all the ace representation! It's absolutely refreshing. This is the first video I've listened to from this channel - it will assuredly not be the last.

Also, I think Tesla was probably aroace. Inventing is dirty work, I doubt he maintained perfect cleanliness during that. But grime germs and people germs are different when sex-repulsion comes into play!

This is great! Just this year, I had a super in depth history class. We had lots of discussion of feminism, lots of discussion on the Civil Rights movement and combating racism, but not one mention of homophobia or oppression of the queer community?People are still afraid of this subject, even in the most liberal areas. Thank you so much!

Astra is emphasizing the fact that 'the imitation game', for Turing, ended really as an intimidation game.

This video would benefit greatly from a lavelier mic, even a cheap one.
