1/4" NPT is an air compressor fitting. You dont need AN fittings to do this either 🤦🏽‍♂️ using a 3/8 fuel line, pump sprayer, metal band clamps, and an air compressor fitting works just fine. Youll get oil through the entire motor. Ill have a video up about this in the next week or so.

My little project car has been stuck in the garage for about 8 months now and has never been started in all that time. I've been wondering about the best way to start it without damaging the engine, and this video came just at the right time. Thanks for the top tip guys 👍
In case you're wondering its a 2007 mk2 ford focus st225 with a 2.5 i5 turbo 😁

In the early 70's a good friend built a 454 ci FORD engine for his '58 Ford Custom 300 2 door. All parts were brand new. We dropped the engine in using an old swing set & chain/pulley. After everything was bolted up, he took an(sorry I can't remember what it was called). He inserted it into the oil pump, used an electric drill to bring the oil pressure up to 60#'s, according to the gauge. Installed the distributor & it fired up the first hit of the key! This guy was an excellent mechanic! The car was a street/ strip. It ran high 11's with a beefed up C6 & 4.57 gears.

Did he flush that line? Looked to be connected before he even added oil to the sprayer.

I wished I would've known about this while building my 5.4 2v. I took a weed sprayer and cut the sprayer off then zip tied a 3/8 hose by 1/4 thread npt fitting to thread into the oil pressure sensor location and pumped her up with the valve covers off until I heard it stop "farting". If you don't do this and just rely on the starter you'll get a shit ton of valvetrain chatter, and possibly your bottom end bearings score and all that for nothing. Just do it this way. It's actually really easy once you get everything assembled and know the spot to prime. You can also check for leaks this way.

Very nice setup guys, always good to have plenty of oil throught the motor before starting, And yes can't wait to see Brad's GT to fire up, and hit the street.

will the fitting for the block work on a 4.6 romeo as well?

Why not turn key on and put pedal to the floor and turn it over for 10 seconds to build up pressure?

thats the point of assembly lube lol which you will have to flush soon anyway

With s550 stick mustangs all you have to do is put the clutch peddle and gas peddle to the floor and hold the start button

The car won’t start it will just crank and build oil pressure

Not sure if autos can do it

You should put together a kit and sell them already built it might be a little time consuming, but it also might bring in some extra bread🤷🏾‍♂️
