i really like that engine! my brother was a mechanics-engineer and always used to fiddle with motors and engines, nice clip!

Did a little more research into that adorable alternator. It's a 3-phase unit. Windings are on a stator, Permanent magnets on the spinning hub.

If the windings are good, then all you need is to replace the 3-phase diode pack and regulator. Or perhaps a single diode from one winding to keep the battery charged if no other loads.

These engines were made on spec for Thermoking by Yanmar. These engines ran compressors for refrigeration at 1800 rpm. From memory I can not recall the flywheel size or SAE housing. However the governor is regulated for constant 1800 and not at all good for vehicle or marine use

i saw a motorbike that had this engine in it once, the guy that made it had put a turbo on it to get a bit more juice out of it haha. the turbo was so small that it actually made boost that ment something :)

This engine came out of a old tractor, its not designed for car use, only set RPM low speed runs

Very cool. I think i have a 540rpm hydraulic motor if you want it. It works fine and was used to pull wire through conduit under roads and whatnot.

Its got thermo start like my yanmar engine takes alot less power than glow plugs. Thats sure a nice running engine

Sounds so much better than petrol engine. I always was fan of diesel engines, especially 3 cylinder ones as they sound the best. Good stuff I'd love to get my hands on 3 cylinder diesel. Atm I only have petrol lawnmower engine in stock which is not much fun.
