I bought a 73 Karmann Ghia in 74. I still have it and still love it.😊

My mistake was giving up on my 72 Super Beetle in the early 90's. Didn't realize what I could have had. So, I bought a 73 Beetle 8 years ago and slowly refining it to its original glory!

I was in the 9th Grade back in '99 and my dad got me my first, prepped-for-paint, Super Beetle. Today, I have 4 kids and they love that Bug which I guess will be sentimental to me and them for years ahead 😊

Just bought a 63 off FB for 2500. Seems in decent shape and no cancer spots, we’ll see when I start digging into it 🤞

My dad made a mistake when he bought a VW Bug and was going to give it to my brother. He took parts off another VW bug to put on that one. He finds out later that the VW Bug he was going to give to my brother can't be on the road because the previous owner cut it in half and weld it to some other VW Bug.

I was a pro photographer back in the 90's driving around a 68 bug. I stuffed so much gear in there one time that I popped the back window out slightly and the wind caught it while I was driving down the road. I still remember the sparkles of glass on the ground when looking in the rear view mirror. Lol! I used to take the front passenger seat out to get more gear in too.

My first mistake was driving one. I was 11, and my grandfather's '63 Wolfsburg was parked on the street in front of his house. He and my dad were talking next to it while I hopped in. There were the keys! I started it, managed to get it moving, and within a few seconds, I saw my dad's big fingers wrap themselves around the B-pillar! Instead of losing my life, as I was sure my dad would take it when he hopped in next to me, I learned I have THE coolest dad EVER! This was my first driving "lesson" in a car!

Next mistake was in high school. That girl's dad wanted $50 for his split bus, and I thought he should have given it to me for dating his daughter. 😂 That was 32yrs ago, and I kick myself every time I see one. 😑

Today, I am horribly addicted to these little Germans.

What is wrong with a 71 convertible super beetle?

I made the mistake not buying a Beetle sooner than i did. :P
Now looking for an address to get a body-off restauration done.
After watching many of your videos it'll be Atlas Blue. Picking the colour was probably the hardest thing to decide on

Mistakes? Not looking hard enough to find one that's rust free! Rust is the hardest thing to fix unless you have a fab shop and are well versed at patch repairs. Almost anything else can be ordered and shipped to your door... as long as you have the $$$.

What was the mistake? Was there a bunch of stuff wrong with it or something? I own a 71 super beetle convertible and love it. Drive it everywhere.

My first "mistake" was buying a 72 Super back in 1989. I didn't know the difference between standard vs super. I never did like the bulbous nose or Mac-strut suspension, but I made the best of it. Ended up building a very expensive 1776 for it (more than the value of the car) which was mistake #2 - should have saved that motor for a better car! No hate for Super owners, but just not my preference.

I had never owned one and take thousand I found one at a buy here pay here lot and keep condition in North Carolina I said any I just knew I had to have it I test drove it I loved it I bought it really all you have to do is change your oil to meet up about every 10, 000 mi and adjust your valves and you did so I don't really agree with what you're saying if you lock your Volkswagens and shut your mouth and enjoy them they're not everyone I just recently seen a 1974 restored for 19, 000 I'm going to buy and I think I'll enjoy it as much as I did my little 1978 I had
