I think kitchen sets are also good gifts, it keeps him occupied for hrs, my son loves playing with blenders, and to imitate cutting vegetables.

You can't go wrong with playdough sets, kinetic sand, Fort building kit, playmags and a scooter! Play kitchens are great too. And role play toys like dolls, dress up, doctors kit, vet kit. All very loved by my nearly 3 year old. Orchard games do little board games for ages 2 plus as well and my little girl likes puzzles too! 🙂

Toot toot drivers are amazing. Magnetic tiles and animal figurines are firm favourites in our household for the past few years

My top gifts for 2 year olds.... Magnetic tiles, Lego Duplo, magnets of any kind i.e. books with magnetic pieces, play doh and kinetic sand (if passed the eating everything stage 😉), jigsaw puzzles (4, 8, 12, 16ish piece packs). These things kept us going with our 2 year old during lockdown! And our second son who was born Sept 2020 is now enjoying these things too 🙂xxx

I would recommend a wooden kitchen too, I know George has one but it’s a fab present idea and can pick them up cheap from places like Asda and Aldi, my little one has one and we always buy a new accessory for it on occasions, like a toaster, tea set, biscuit box etc Aldi does fab wooden bits for play food too xxxx

Brio is the ones that designed the trian-track-system that most wooden train-sets use now adays. IKEA also has tracks that fits the brio system. I played with Brio all my childhood, my 15y older brothers kids have played with the same tracks plus some additional ones and now my 2y old son is absolutely loving them! So they last generations and tons of use. We have enough to build through our whole apartment, but I've still got some new tunnels on his wishlist. He played with a simple setup since he was 1y. You can get endless sets/parts for it.

Our son also loves his Vtech TootToot drivers cars and garage. But his most loved toys are from the playkits from Lovevery, so thats what he got for his bday and will get for Christmas from us. Lastly our son loves his playkitchen + coffee maker (we get 'coffee' from him every day), his pushbike, playsand/kinetic sand, books and balance toys like bObles DK.
Ps we're litterally looking at adding the same books as you mentioned, and our sons are about the same age ;)

I definitely recommend the lego duplo train sets, they are so easy to put together and come with loads of extras to make it even bigger and more exciting. The trains have lights and sounds too and can be controlled by an app. My son got it for his 3rd birthday and still plays with them now he's 5. Xx

My little boy was 2 at the end of August and he’s absolutely obsessed with hot wheels! Loves building the tracks and making tracks with loops etc in. He’s also not the gentlest of toddlers but they with stand🤣 also the way to play road is such a good investment- it goes literally everywhere!xx

Love this! Loads of good ideas. Thank you!
Brio do starter sets for younger children, which are still fully connectable to the sets for older children, so you can expand with the more intricate stuff later. They are such amazing sets. My boy will be 2 in December and I’m going to get him the younger toddler starter set for his birthday.

You can also get some of the Julia Donaldson books like the gruffalo and room on the broom as flap / push & pull slider books. My LO also recently turned 2. We have a mix of both but he still loves books that do things or are touch ones.

Definitely agree with all the rest on the trains set as well. We got one last year (mostly because me and my sister wanted an excuse to play) but he’s just starting to get really into the trains now as well 🚂😊

Brio and John Lewis are compatible, we have a mixture of both, honestly quality is the same x
