I can't imagine showing up at the mountain, seeing a 3 hour wait for a lift and not just turning around and going home.

Glorious! I love when management refuses to give the SLIGHTEST concession and then turns around and loses 5x that amount 😂

An hour of their labor is worth less than a burger apparently. What a world we live in

They did. Vail buckled, they got the $2 an hour, a clause preventing wage compression and a "also us" clause, meaning that if any other vail patrol union gets something good, they do too. Crested Butte is one of the oldest ski patrol unions and they have this clause too. My roommate got a $3 raise because of the strike

The keystone negotiations were also starting and were apparently not going well. Hopefully, Keystone also gets the "also us" clause.

Somebody who works for Vail here. I'm actually an instructor on PC and for anybody curious, they are back, with their raise, and more terrain is opening every single day. We're getting back on track, just hoping Mother Nature does the same. Everyone is happy ski patrol is back, and man the smile you see when you pass by these guys and give them a welcome back, they are stoked.

If they can afford to pay the ceo 6.3 million a year they can afford to pay their workers 700k more

As a Utahn, here's some other things to point out. Tons of people in Utah have ski passes which are incredibly expensive and are also bought weeks or even months before you get close to winter. This year has had barely any snow until this week so now people are trying to get their money's worth out of their passes. This means that there are way more people in the park than usual, there also still isn't enough snow in the park for everything to be safely open. Hope this helps

I'm from Utah, and we all hate Vail around here now. Don't support Vail under any circumstances, just stay at a different hotel, eat at locally owned restaurants, and ski at any of the other resorts in Utah.

I was there for this! They also chanted “pay your staff” in the lift lines

I love that they're stock plummeted right now. I don't know why anybody would wait that long in line to slide down a hill. I don't know why anybody would wait in that long of a line for anything. There are 5000 Providence staff members on strike in Oregon and I completely understand that I was just in the hospital for four days about a month ago. I fully support them. Most giant companies can easily afford to pay fair and better wages, but it's the greed of the boards and the owners that caused prices to increase value to diminish not fair wages. But unfortunately union bashing propaganda works extremely well and a lot of people believe that unions are a bad idea which is sad but a sheep always a sheep.

You love to see it. Nothing like companies purposely costing themselves millions

Lift tickets are also $288 for today a Tuesday and $328 for a Saturday. That's ridiculous for one day of riding. I've been riding my entire life in New England and wanted to go out west at some point but I'm seriously considering what places I should go to.

And this, fellow normal people of the internet, is why you unionize ✊

this is one of many reasons most avid skiers/snowboarders hate vail.

I live in Park City and I can confirm this is very accurate.. not to mention this is one of the most expensive cities to ski in.
