The 2013 Ford Shelby GT500 facelift is here and will be on display at the Ford stand at the Los Angeles auto show starting tomorrow.

Under the hood is a supercharged 5.8 liter aluminum-block V8 that produces 650 hp (485 kW / 659 PS) and 600 lb-ft (813 Nm) of torque. That engine unit is coupled to an upgraded six-speed manual gearbox.

For the aerodynamics, the front fascia and splitters have been modified to handle the loads required of the car's top speed of 200 mph (322 km/h).

The 2013 Ford Shelby GT500 comes fitted with 19-inch wheels at the front and 20-inchers at the back wrapped in Goodyear Eagle F1 SuperCar G:2 tires.

Both a Performance Package and a Track Package are on offer with the Shelby GT500. The Performance Package includes Bilstein electronically-adjusted dampers while the Track Package features an external engine-oil cooler, rear differential cooler and transmission cooler to prevent over-heating on the track.

the way those fog lights are integrated onto the front lights is just awesome, not to mention the reminiscent tailights !

Topgear said in an article that it will have 650bhp and do 200mph.

One thing the ZL1 has over the gt500 is the automatic transmission. That is a huge advantage since most people drive autos and not standard.

Those taillights are so much better than the 2012's

They needed to show more of the front end. After all, it's about the only time Slomaro drivers will be able to see it :)

@805MustangKilla its not faster than the bugatti. i for one dont care much for the bugatti but if you want since people want to talk about the zr1 henessey venom gt then we can use a stock car that ford has a good part of and thats the shelby ssc ultimate aero, and that stomps the bugatti and the henessey vette like its nothing

@MayorMcCheese78 ???? the gt500 has been selling very well without an auto for a good bit! hell since 93 cobras have never had an auto and they have sold very well. so i wouldnt call that a huge advantage! the gt500 has a fully forged engine vs the lsa now that is a huge advantage!

Oh, and you Chevy guys, the ZL1 has to have a 6.2 liter supercharged engine to propel it 0-60 at 3.9 seconds and top at 184mph, the GT500 takes a smaller 5.8 liter supercharged engine and propels it from 0-60 in 3.8 seconds and tops at 202. Go home if you can't accept it as a better car.

@805MustangKilla the ultimate aero? it is the fastest production car in the world right now and it was made by ford. it smokes the zr1 no matter what

@805MustangKilla Sorry, we shouldn't be trolling you, after all, you've set a good standard for the mustang now. Since the stang stmps the camaro, it must be compared to vettes (dollar to dollar the mustang is the better performing car anyway lol) so thank you for your indirect complement towards ford vehicles. We'll remember that.
