Caught on camera: Sacramento County auto shops hit by gas thieves

Auto shops in Sacramento County's Arden-Arcade area say people are siphoning gasoline out of parked cars, and one of the shop's surveillance cameras caught people in action. At the intersection of El Sutton Lane and Fulton Avenue are several businesses that offer services including auto repairs, detailing and tires. Jeremiah Bethly, who owns 1st Choice Auto Repair, describes the area as "a very busy lane." “It's a pandemic of theft," Bethly said.

They’re not going to do anything even if there is camera footage. Our catalytic converter was taken off of our shop van a few miles from here —- we have footage of the suspects actually stealing it on top of footage of their car and license plate number. Nothing happened.

There’s absolutely an uptick in cases. I’ve had my gas siphoned twice in the past 2 months on h street i street alley in boulevard park. Also had my car broken into 4 times now.

I'm unhappy that my vehicle only has a spring loaded plug in the filler neck.
There's no way to lock it.
Plant a bait car full of nitromethane. It will destroy any engine that runs with it.

Here in Santa Ana Orange County SoCal it's $5.19 a gallon just wow during the pandemic it was $1.69 a gallon why can't it be the same price all the time.
I should of bought a whole bunch of tank 🚛 trucks full of gas and sold it rk would of made tons of money

Put something special in a car for those lowlife theives and let them learn a lesson. Crime should not pay. Or get a well trained watch dog that will take a bite out of their asses. And the deputies could drive thru now & then, they are well aware of the thefts.

Blame the owner of the gas station doing this to Americans. They don't like pay taxes. So they raise the price of there goods

Honestly you can't blame the thief's . Yes it's criminal but the government needs to do something about the gas prices
