Whatever works for them good on them. I am a baby boomer and my wife and I have never banked together. I pay all the bills and deal with the retirement. We are debt free. We own our own house and two cars. My wife is disabled now and she gets her disability to do whatever she wants with it. I have invested and we will have a good retirement. I do not waste money on frivolously things.

This only works if you both Have similar money management styles. If one is spender and the other is a saver it will never work

My wife and I have shared a bank account for 16 years with no issues. She spends what she wants and I spend what I want. If either of us wants to make a big purchase, we take about it and 95% of the time, it's approved and the other 5% is a yes, just not right now. I don't know if there is any correlation here but all of our friends that had separate bank accounts either cheated, financially or physically and most are divorced now.
