Finally High Power 350kW+ ChargePoint Units! Charging On The Express Plus For The First Time

preview_player
Показать описание
Kyle heads to Wheat Ridge, CO to charge on a ChargePoint Express Plus for the first time. These can be configured up to a 400kW output shared across two posts or 350kW per output port. In this case, the unit is a 200kW arrangement but is the same functionally as a higher power version - he plugs in a 2022 Tesla Model S Plaid using the OE accessory CCS to Tesla adapter.

Unknown Karen: "Yeah, there's this guy walking around the charging stations at 2am taking video."
Police/security: "Ok maam, we're familiar with Kyle. We'll go check on him though."

Yes!! Chargepoint visit and interview with their management team would be so interesting and educational. Both for the general public but also for any companies or municipalalites that are considering them as an option.

So far, I’ve loved ChargePoint chargers! I’ve only used level 2 charge points, but they usually work quick and easy. Tap phone, grab the cable, plug in my car and go!

Awesome to see. I've had pretty solid experiences with chargepoint, I love how quick it is to get charging. It'd be super interesting to hear from the people behind chargepoint!

This charge station is about a mile from where I live and I've used the older (green) units and never had one fail or be out of order. Want to check out the red express station soon!

That ChargePoint location at the South Arvada Target has been under construction for a while. It’s great to see they added a new, faster charger there!

Kyle, just a fun tidbit: It appears that, at this point, a 200-mile EV can now drive coast-to-coast in the United States using only ChargePoint DCFC.

You should start seeing some of these CPExpress chargers at Stellantis dealerships around the country this coming year. As well as 19.2kw cp6000's

Would love to see the ChargePoint factory tour. Bjorn's Kempower one was very interesting, and I have no doubt a ChargePoint one from you would be awesome as well.

Phoenix Contact sparks joy.

And their plugs don't feel like trying to wrestle a trout

Great to see chargers being sold for third-party ownership. This will allow gas stations to buy them and operate them for profit. Once they can make money, chargers will be everywhere and competition will lower charging prices.

Did you notice the police car sitting in the background?

I would have liked you to have shown a close up of the charging screen when you referred to it in your monologue. User Interfaces are yet to be explored by Youtube reviewers, such as yourself, Kyle. Just like any other consumer product, EV chargers need to address user interfaces to make them easy to understand by the average person and yet supply the charging details us tech needs are interested in seeing. Perhaps you can address this in upcoming videos and even on your factory visit to CHARGE POINT.

In western Colorado we definitely have more ChargePoint DC stations than EA or EVgo. I carry one of their cards because cell service is spotty in some of these rural locations. The pricing is all over the map depending upon the operator. If you’re use to paying a premium for gas in remote locations you shouldn’t be too surprised at the cost.

Would love to hear more about Chargepoint & their pricing models when you have time. We’ve been looking to spec Chargepoint units at a few sites in the municipality at which I work. The pros and cons are always helpful.
