Monarque Restaurant Review - Montreal Foodie (Recommended)

Here is my review of a recent dinner I had at Monarque Restaurant, located at 406 Rue Saint-Jacques, Montréal. It was rated the #17 restaurant in 2022 by Canada's 100 Best Restaurant list. It has a brasserie (which is where I sat) and a more formal dining room.

As I did this review, I could figure out why I didn't strongly recommend this restaurant. I thought the food was quite good but the service, although attentive, is very 1980s (not in a good way). For some reason, I just felt that if Michelin was rating in Montreal, this would not get a star. Again, my opinion could be affected by the austere service and perhaps it was bit casual for Michelin standards.
