Oh man, it sounds like we’re in the studio listening to Rick. Great

What a day just to listen to Rick one more time. Such a classic he was when he sing are just to look at him. He was the best singer that ever got on a stage Bless you Ricky you were the most.

This version doesn't have the background singers singing "uh huh, poor little fool, I was a fool oh yeah". The amazing thing is that Ricky's voice is so good it carries the song even without those vocals. Many people have done covers of this song but he sounds the best.
When I was a little kid my mom used to call me into the TV room to hear Ricky and the band. This was on the Ozzie and Harriet show. They were a very talented family. Ricky's father was a band leader before he started in television.
It's a shame he left us so young. He really should have had a lot of years to go.

Thank you so much for posting this. It was the guitar that hooked me as a 14-year-old when this song came out. Just loved how crisp & clear it is on this post. I'm 69 now, and whenever I hear this song, it manages to evoke the same feelings I had way back then in 1958. I guess we never really grow up in some ways. THANK YOU! THANK YOU!

Thank You Jesmelric...I love this upload, Ricky's voice and the way he carries a song is so pleasant and easy on the ears. It really is beautiful music.

On this day in 1958 {August 31st} Ricky Nelson performed live in front of an audience for the first time; it was at the Steel Pier in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
Twenty-seven days earlier his "Poor Little Fool" peaked at #1 {for 2 weeks} on Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart and spent 15 weeks on the Top 100.
Opening for Ricky were the Four Preps; who at the time were on the Top 100 themselves with "Lazy Summer Night", which reached #21.
R.I.P. Mr. Nelson, aka Eric Hilliard Nelson, {1940 - 1985}.

On this date in 1958 {August 4th} the first number one song on the "Billboard's Hot 100" chart was "Poor Little Fool" by Ricky Nelson...
As of the week ending August 11, 2012, the Hot 100 has had 1, 016 different number-one hits...
Its current number-one is "Call Me Maybe" by Carly Rae Jepsen...
Before August 4th, 1958 the chart was called "The Top 100" and Billboard did away with their "Most Played by Jockeys" chart at that time...
R.I.P. Mr. Nelson...
