What is FEM?
FEM, UCLA’s intersectional feminist magazine since 1973, is dedicated to the liberation of all peoples. Through our work, we seek to dismantle systemic oppression and are committed to anti-racist, anti-imperialist, anti-capitalist ideologies. We produce a wide range of multimedia content focused on centering the narratives of those marginalized and misrepresented. Beyond journalism, FEM engages in actionable praxes by building coalitions with community members and other campus organizations. As self-reflective feminists, we strive to unlearn and relearn alongside our global audience in this ever-evolving socio-political landscape.
Last Year in Fem:
Thanks to your generosity last year, we were able to successfully transition back in person. Your money funded events such as the senior staff retreat, member socials, and zine launch parties. Further, we expanded our Community Outreach team that provides supplies and resources to the LA community. Other places donations contributed to include: new merchandise, photoshoot equipment and studio space, website maintenance, and more!
Future Plans:
This year, we will continue to nurture our feminist practice, building upon and bettering the FEM legacy in our 50th year. Donations will support our sections and FEM members in producing new content. We hope to use funds to produce issue photoshoots and a short film, as well as make transportation to volunteer opportunities more accessible. We invite you to celebrate 50 years of FEM. Here's to 50 more!
