I remember getting the 2006 star destroyer for Christmas that year. I absolutely loved it, it was definitely my favorite set. I ended up selling most of my legos as a teenager and got quite a bit of money selling the imperial guards from that set! Wish I would’ve kept them though

I had the star destroyer as a kid talking 20ish years ago and lost it, the amount of memory I have of building and playing with that set is unreal 😢

Wow I had no idea the older Star Destroyer had such a detailed interior space and the engines look so much better too. Reason I didn't know is that I wasnt really into Lego star wars until recently even though I was into Lego.

I've owned both in my life, and I remember the Star Destroyer as a kid was highly fragile. The Light Cruiser while more expensive, is also a lot better for play. I also didn't like how the Destroyer only had two of it's 4 broadside cannons, and the laser launchers always had their lasers falling out. I do have a ton of nostalgia for the Star Destroyer, but I would recommend the light cruiser anyday for just overall look, durability, accuracy, etc. My hope is they remake a play version of the Star Destroyer

that ISD was the first big lego star wars set i ever got and i still have it today (although my dog ate one of the big wheels they use as an engine) and it’s awesome
