In another episode, it is revealed that Abe had thrown Mona's food recipes off a cliff after Mona had left her. This happened after Mona was officially declared dead, making Homer lose all of his trust in Abe, since these recipes were the only thing left of Mona that made Homer remind himself of the times he still was with his mother.

I am still trying to figure out how Homer's ma and pop met and fell in love enough to get married. Like, was it a drunk one nighter or was the war THAT hard on Abe? For some sort of timeline to match, they must have met shortly before Honer was ever concieved.
