The best canonical analysis on soul-spirit-body issue and biblical anthropology ever published. Cooper's book "Body, Soul & Life Everlasting" is very indicated to follow this lecture.

0:46 "This I take to be the teaching of Scripture": but it isn't the teaching of Scripture, it's derived primarily from Plato and Greek philosophy. Scripture teaches that the dead "sleep" as they await resurrection. Even the proof-texts that dualists use like 2 Corinthians 5, when analysed in context, like by reading 2 Corinthians 4 and 5 together, are shown to be talking about the resurrection. The hope of the New Testament is the resurrection of the body not the immortality of the soul. Oscar Cullmann demonstrated this over 60 years ago.
