Hello! I am Jemma from Grupo Deseo, a community for dancers of Bachata, Salsa, and Kizomba in Hong Kong. As there aren't many places to buy dance shoes in Hong Kong, I tend to buy all my equipment online. In order to give some options to our community members, we paired with Fuego to offer discount codes to any members of our community who might be interested in purchasing a pair.

I always partner with companies that I like and use myself. I bought the Fuego Low Top sneakers last year and really liked them despite some limitations. I was really excited when Fuego announced the launch of their new split sole line and last month I finally bought a pair for myself!

The split soles are great shoes! I really like these shoes and they answer all the issues I have with the Fuego low tops. They are extremely comfortable and great for dancing on all surfaces. I bought them so I could have a pair of dance shoes that I could wear as both a follower and leader in bars and on rough surfaces without fear of injury or ruining my lovely dance shoes!

SUMMARY

In summary, the Fuego Split Soles Shoes are versatile and ideal for the more serious amateur or a professional who's spending many hours on their feet. They provide technical support while being very comfortable. They are suitable for both followers and leaders.

SIZING

I ordered these shoes in a 7 1/2 which is the same size as my Fuego low tops. When I reorder these shoes (because I wear them so much I am likely going to buy a second pair), I will buy half a size smaller. Sizing is a very difficult thing to advise on because it totally depends on your foot type and preferences. I have average feet but with high arches. Although I regularly use the shoes in 7 1/2 without issues, I would prefer the shoe to be even more snug - so, next time I will get half a size smaller. Check the sizing guide on Fuego's website, or better yet (if possible!) go to a store or ask a friend who has a pair if you can try them on first!

I've been looking at/considering Fuego's for over a year. I'm now serious about solving my shoe problem with an order. Here's the thing. I measure US women's 4.5/EU 35, 34.5, or even 34, and in sandals I usually need buckles or velcro to snug in, or even go down to a 4 (assuming I can get it which...no). My foot does not measure narrow, but very slender top to sole in the forefoot, and narrow heel. The smallest split-sole they sell is 5/36. I'm pretty convinced I can't get them unless they add lower sizes. But interested in your opinion. Thanks so much for the review.

I love my fuegos .. problem with my white split soles is they're hard to keep clean. My low tops can be easily cleaned with a damp cloth

My daughter will be dancing in a parade this year and they are required to perform in jazz shoes, do you think these will help her during practices? Since they are practicing/performing on the street?

Thank you for the review and input - very insightful and helpful!

I would really like try these for size. I run a 9.5 EE (wide) for US sizing, but I'm afraid the toe box and shoe in general won't fit my wider feet even if I go a half size bigger. How forgiving/flexible would you say the toe box area and fabric around the shoe is?

Thank you for your thorough reviews! I’m still trying to decide between the low top and split soles. For low tops I like how they’re water resistent and the look is more casual sneaker like, but also the split soles ones looks more flexible and can be on my toes, with lower chance the sole cracking because of damaging. I used to just wear leather jazz shoes but they’re not good for outdoor dancing, I want them for social dancing and classes, and be able to dance on any surfaces. What would be your recommendations?

So you have high arches and this shoe is no problem? I am glad to know that because they do not look high arch friendly to me. I do have a wide forefoot and a narrow heel so I may be trying the men's shoe instead of the women's shoe. I understand about the stiffer toe box and have just now inquired about toe box width for my foot length. I LOVE super flexible shoes.

Hi again. Quick question about the split sole shoes.... First, I'm a casual and newer swing dancer. Typically, I only wear shoes with leather or felt bottoms because I dance on wood floors. Are the Fuego split sole shoes suitable for wood floors or will they tend to 'stick' to the floor??

I actually found them a bit too rigid, also they were running large so returned… Now I have an Anna Kern split sole and I think it is almost perfect…(also running half a size larger for me, but I have narrow feet so that might be personal, tho they are technically longer which I can feel, so still not a perfect fit for me), they felt more flexible and thinner than the Fuego, which feel more like Jazz shoes and more floor feel, the problem is looking a bit more Grandma style 😂

A bit of a goofy question perhaps- I really hate when my feet get too hot- do you find that is an issue with either the split sole or low top Fuegos?

I've been messaging with Fuego for days and they literally cannot tell me how many inches wide their shoe is. They've asked multiple departments. So, I'm passing on them. Do you have a dance sneaker you recommend for latin dance with a lot of spins for people with wide feet?
