This is the original version of the famous communion hymn which was recomposed in 19th century by Chourmouzios the Archivist and recorded some 30 years ago by Lycourgos Angelopoulos.

Also there is a legend how Koukouzelis composed his Bulgarian Polyeleos.
John Kukuzel achieved success in singing and was brought closer to the emperor, who invited him to choose a worthy wife. With the permission of the emperor, he visited Dyrrachium. Visiting his mother after a long absence, he heard her lament: “My dear child, where are you?” (the Slavic phrase is written in Greek letters in the Life). After the feast given by the emperor in honor of his return, John Kukuzel composed a polyeleos to the melody of this lamentation, which was called “Bulgarian”.
