As someone who hated the idea of wipes I wasnt too disappointed with this wipe. all my quest progression saved, so I just had to talk to NPC's to get the rewards, it allowed ME to upgrade my blueprints a lot and you get the levels back extremely quick as the quest progression saves. I didnt lose anything of true value as I wsas able to transfer all my important stuff from the last season to the new one including all my favorite deviants. I understand from a prespective as someone who doesnt play the game much why it sounds bad but as somebody who plays the game a good bit the wipe is a super good experience, its a nice fresh change, i wouldnt even say a fresh start as I really didnt lose anything that important

The awesome design of an airplane that has mutated into a dragon-plane definitely is wasted on a balloon popping minigame.

As a old gamer that grew up testing games as a hobby im loving what um seeing with the dev team. Havnt seen cooperation and effort on a MMO like this in a really long time.

The 4weeks settlement phase is so that players who started on earlier servers, and hence reach the end of the scenario first, can still have something to do while waiting for their friends, who started on later servers, to reach the end of their scenario.
My friends and I are already in the settlement phase but another group whom we intend to play the new scenario with are still in phase 3 in their server, so we just mess around in Manibus for about 3weeks until they get their new scenario sign-up option.

I have spent over 300 hours in the game. Wipes are good, because:

-Acquiring resources IS EASY. I'm sitting on so many resources I was never be able to consume at all, I wasn't hoarding. The resources are just really easy to get.
-Blueprints are kept. Amazing! this means next season, I'll be able to craft all my legendaries I earned from last season onto next season, allowing me to increase their level... which is going to make me stronger.
-More PvP events are going to be available which makes it a fair ground field for new players.
-Allows us to transfer from previous seasons all the tedious items, such as chainsaw/drill, which speeds all the tedious tasks... BY A LOT.
-We can also transfer all the seeds, some of them are really annoying/hard to get.
-We can transfer our lovely deviants. Being able to transfer that 5/5 deviant u farmed for, forever... amazing. I love my pets :D.

The game is very casual, I'm speaking from a PvP player perspective in a PvP server. As it is now, the game does need more content... we need more events open world. Chaos zones in cities with events, rewards. Just need more to do.

Love the game, the hate people give to the game due small things is very unfair. Considering this game is a breath of fresh air in the survival genre. It's not your stalker game, but it is a sandboxy stalker game. It's not your Rust game, but you have base building. It's not Tom Clancys, but it is a looter shooter. It's not your Day Z survival game, but it has most elements revolving around it and they're adding more survival elements. It's not Ark, but we can tame animals.

The game just came out, they're still polishing it. Games take time to be polished and they're doing it with OUR FEEDBACK. Which they do listen to and accept constructive criticism. When have you heard devs doing this before recently?

Just my 2 cents.

The rumor of spyware definitely affected this game, and i'm glad they did this interview and thank you for clearing up the rumor

It really does have early warframe vibes. They don't have space mom, but not everyone can have space mom.

That season system works exactly like the one in No Man's Sky. They drop you fresh into the scenario, you play through it across the 5 week period, you have the option to send over a small volume of items you found, and the rest as well as that progress is converted to currency.

It seems to me that one of their core goals is to make the game accessible for new players. A lot of MMORPG games can feel impossible to get into late because of how far ahead everyone is and how much content there is to get through to just be caught up. This gets even worse when devs design new content with those long time players in mind. I feel like people are looking at this from the perspective of other games with very different gameplay from Once Human, and then they're getting confused or annoyed by Once Human not doing what those other games have done, which doesn't make sense. It's rewarding to build a character and/or guild over the course of years, gradually getting stronger and stronger items, but every single game doesn't have to be like that. I really like the fact that I can get on, play for a season, drop the game for a year, come back, and I'm not at a significant disadvantage compared to people that stuck with it the whole time. There are ways to reward long term players without granting them a massive advantage, and I think the wipe structure they're going with is at least a decent way of dealing with the issue.

So to clarify about what you can and cant transfer a bit based on the vagueness of the wording: Some things might not be allowed into a new scenario because of the scenarios themes, for example you might not be able to take a pvp scenario deviant into a pve scenario deviant because its not on the list. Other than that, within the specifics of the new scenario your trying to join, you get 20 000 points to spend on bringing forward new items, and items have different point costs attached to them.

For example, weapons and armor are 9000 points per piece, which isnt a good use of points considering that weapons have minimum level requirements, require high level mats to repair, and can be made in game once you have the base level materials, but deviants are 800 points and the advanced chainsaw and drill cost 2500 points (and arent level restricted).

Almost everything that gets transferred into Eternaland can be brought into a new season/scenario so long as you can afford the cost. So really, the only thing that gets wiped is player level and all the relevant scenario progression perks, and all the memetic crafting unlocks and specializations. Thats practically nothing, getting resituated with what's left over will be super easy. BUT it offers a fresh start, and helps bring everyone onto the same page relatively speaking. Even story progression is preserved, but you don't lose out on any rewards.

I think its an elegant solution, and they ARE adding longer term scenarios in the future. Something I also want to make a note on is that while the first scenarios were intended to be roughly 6 weeks long, they were more like 5 weeks of content.

Now if only we could repair looted gear.

The time gated phases mean low tier items aren't useless. The level reset means power creep is controlled. The system is brilliant

One response I love is that they changed the message activation key from the use activation key, which was making looting and even quest progression nearly impossible due to stupid players spamming the quest spot with messages... so thankful!

I hated the idea at first, but after someone made the perfect analogy, I feel it seems like an interesting mechanic. Someone in chat said it's like Eternaland is the real world, and you jump into the scenarios like movies, or games. The first thing that came to mind was something along the lines of ReBoot (the old TV Show). I'm still waiting for the second week to jump ship into a new Manibus server, but for now seems interesting enough to try.

The progression is very fast in Once Human, which I think is something that mitigates their frequent wiping and fits the "Mayfly" theme.
Agreed on the seasonal system it's confusing as hell. Some things are very confusing too (they should tell you how rare starchrom is!)
I imagine the eternaland stuff is 100% tied to your weapons and are level gated. It makes sense because upgrading blueprints, which is one of the strongest things in the game, takes an insane amount of resources. I'm so glad they don't wipe that progress

I finally understand the wipes fully. Obviously lots of things carry over even when starting a new scenario now, but they seem to be going in the direction that each scenario is like starting the sequel to that game (or provides a unique enough experience for the player to be able to handle losing some progression for. For example, starting over in a world with PvP fully enabled and you can loot anyone at any time is only fun if everyone got wiped.

Leaving the calling out and banning of racists in chat, in the vod upload, is so unbelievably based, I love to see it. So tired of all of the "Chinese = guaranteed malicious and bad without exception" shit that people try to push

There is MASSIVE server lag in some situations. Mainly during Prime War PVE events or when alot of people are in the same area shooting and doing stuff.

As a Once Human player who has 200 hrs, the “wipe” that everyone is worrying about is really just your Level and the story itself. Once you are in the new scenario you can transfer items from eternal land to your backpack in the new scenario. There’s no limit to the level or tier of the item you want to bring but it is very very expensive and not worth it, for example; you get 20, 000 of this currency and each item you bring takes from the currency, some are small like 40-200 per while others like a Tier 5 maxed out weapon will take 18, 000. The high end items are the most expensive and you’ll only be able to really take like one or 2 depending on what it is, but with everything else being relatively cheap you can take a nice portion with you. In the next scenario you can take all the stuff from the previous scenario and the scenario you just finished with you, it stays there forever. As soon as the scenario started I already built my set which is all legendary gear within like 20 minutes, sure it was tier 1 but I had my exact build and for the content I’m doing I’m still doing the most damage.

Honestly, as someone who was noob enough to repeatedly make mistakes throughout the first season, I’m glad that there is a transitioning phase to the next season to have a chance to start over and correct the silly mistakes I had made on like buying blueprints on the wish machine that did not match my build and selecting useless specialties (i forget what it’s called) when I could have picked gold smelting for the easy energy links.

As a player who has 300+ hours in this game, hear me out:

CONTROLLERS:

This is an item you really need to use to get Mods, Parts, Stardust Source etc.
No controllers means no loot.

You will say: "well play less or do something else ?"

No this is not about it. You need to run Silos, Silos and silos to get the great mods for your weapons and your gear. Everyone needs them. But you need to run them 150 times until you get the best one.
The only problem is you only get 250 controllers and you get 20 controllers weekly. There's no other way to earn controllers.

You want to help other gamers with their runs too but if you have no controllers, you get no loot from the bosses. Which is annoying. No reward for helping.
Also your gear and weapons' durability goes down so rapidly, that you need expensive materials to repair them.
Guess what you need to gain these materials ?
Thats right: Controllers.

As an alternative, you can farm these materials but it takes ages to get these materials just to do a few runs, repair your stuff and do this all over again.

I will say one thing:

If they don't fix this problem, this game is dead in 4 months.
